Best Of: Old Goa and New Goa
For the first argument before the judge, the counsel would like to present the evidence she collected from Goa on behalf of her plaintiff clients. The data is dated for December end 2015, Early January 2016, annexed in the file as Annexure A.
Ha ha, for a second even I thought I am presenting a case against Goa! Legal jargon is very dry and confusing (try reading any bare Act and you will know what I am talking about).
So if you could or could not understand by now, I escaped the Delhi winters for New Year’s and fled to Goa. Now I was going to Goa after many many years so I wanted to see it differently this time.
Even though I have been to Goa a couple of times, it has always been a leisure holiday. Although this time, it was no different, and we spent our days lazying by the pool, but I did go to explore the “Old Goa” and what is left of it now as well as some new quaint restaurants every person was raving about.
Since Goa has become the go-to for every person in India, finding clean and quiet beaches becomes a task. But I found just the perfect place to get a me time along with getting a feel of being somewhere abroad – La Plage on Ashvem Beach.
La Plage is a French restaurant owned by a French family, and it surely takes beach shacks to a whole new level. It is right on the beach, and the ambience is so relaxed it transports you to someplace else. La Plage is easily the best place to spend an entire day eating and sun bathing by the beach. Ashvem Beach is also one of the cleanest beaches you will find in Goa, so definitely not worth the miss.
I also went around looking for the Old Goa and the Goan heritage and my first stop was the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Bainguinim, followed by the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Panaji.
If you find yourself in Goa, do keep a day aside to explore the remains of the Portugal heritage in Panaji, as this is where you can truly see the remains of Ela (Old Goa as it was known in the time of the colonial Portuguese). The modern times have taken over the city, but the old architecture remains intact. So here you will find a Reebok Store in a regal Portugal building, which surprisingly does not feel odd.
Also, as you must have noticed, I am new to the blogosphere. So comments and suggestions are most welcome!
Until my next travel!
